Frequently Asked Questions

We're a small team, thanks for all your support for our family fishery and wild caught seafood.

All Drifters Fish wild salmon is harvested aboard our small fishing boat the F/V Heron. We commercial fish in the wild waters around Cordova, Alaska from the Copper River Delta to Prince William Sound. We do not buy salmon from other vessels or fishermen. This ensures we know how our fish are handled, the quality of the harvest and ensures a truly traceable and honest source for the seafood in your kitchen.

We're super proud of the hard work for the harvest.

Tinned fish is ready to enjoy right from the can. We love smoked salmon blended with cream cheese and smothered on a bagel. The smoked octopus is a real treat with a squeeze of lemon and added to a Greek Salad. Find more ideas for getting fancy with tinned fish on our recipes page.

Frozen wild salmon has an incredible shelf life! Frozen fish will keep well in your freezer for up to nine months. Our fish is immediately flash frozen within hours after harvest, once thawed - you’ll experience a piece of good fish that tastes as good as the day we hauled it out of the ocean.

Wild salmon should be thawed under refrigeration.

Pin bones are normal and present in each portion. When a salmon is filleted, there are a small set of pin bones that are left in the fillet. A set of pliers or tweezers works great for removing the pin bones. We've also found that ensuring the fillet is fully thawed helps make removing a bit easier.

Yes, our salmon has been flash frozen and is healthy and delicious for recipes like sushi, poke, and lox. 100% safe to enjoy raw.

Yes! We're excited to offer the fish we caught this summer shipped straight to your front door throughout the winter.
