This is our first year making the run across the Gulf of Alaska to go to work in the Kodiak Tanner crab fishery. Working with the permitted 20 pots and the limited hours to haul gear, we were out in all kinds of weather harvesting through the wintery month of January.
This fishery is managed by a quota system by the state of Alaska, a sustainable system for a healthy crab stock. With each pot haul, we measured and counted every crab that goes in our hold and reported back daily to the fishery managers.
Tanner crabmeat is super tender and has a sweet, delicate flavor, we're super excited to ship out seafood from this new fishery to you!
